In the early ‘90’s Margaret Pageler convened
medical and public health leaders along with police and criminal justice
professionals to understand and reverse the terrifying trends of child
gun deaths.

The resulting programs involved communities of color, educators, advertisers,
artists, multiple government agencies, and corporate sponsors. Margaret
launched a gun buyback and a trigger-lock campaign. She became a founding
board member of MAVIA – Mothers Against Violence in America – and
worked closely with Washington Ceasefire and Physicians for Social
Responsibility.
Strategic focus led to positive change. Youth gun death rates in Seattle
plummeted.
